About the work

Exceptionally large, colorful signed watercolor on paper of Virginia City, Nevada, by Arne Jensen (1906 - 1993). St. Mary’s Church is prominently centered at the top of the composition. Condition is superb; framed and glazed. This work is shown on page 196 of the reference book “19th and 20th Century Painters of Nevada” published in January 2020. Exhibited at Stremmel Gallery in Reno for the “Nevada Artists” exhibition, 18 January - 15 February 2020.

Arne Jensen studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and later at the Seattle Art Institute. He was a member of the Puget Sound Group of Northwest Painters and the American and Northwest Watercolor Societies. Exhibitors of his works include the Seattle Art Museum and Portland Art Museum.
