About the works

A set of two etchings from the Geological History of Lake Lahontan, A Quaternary Lake of Northwestern Nevada, by Israel Cook Russell. The illustrations originate from a survey of nearly 8,500 square miles in northern Nevada during the early 1880s. 

The keyhole shaped etching is captioned “Sketch of Pyramid Island, Pyramid Lake, Nevada,” the other image is captioned “Tufa Towers on the Shore of Pyramid Lake, Nevada. 

Very fine condition in period oak frames under glass.
